Tool to generate a site map from a site

    Hello:

I'm trying to find a tool that visually models a website. I think I recall using one that was mentioned in one of the SitePoint news letters. I recall that when you give it a URL it reads the pages linked to and from it and produces a visual model of it.

Does anybody recall or know of such a tool.

Basically I want to get a quick visual model or site map of a couple of existing client sites and I'd like a tool to do it.

    Thanks,
    worksdev

File -> New -> Web Diagram -> Site Map

Then just type in the URL. I'm using the Visio version that comes with VS.NET.

    Thanks Josh:

I was looking for something that might automatically do it (as much as possible) by just giving it the URL and setting a few parameters. Does Visio do that?

It was more of a temporary issue that I needed it for rather than a more permanent one, which would be worth buying software for.

I did find this tool (but not excactly what I needed):

    http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html

    I also looked at StarTree.

The thing that I am looking for is a tool that I thought I clicked to from one of the SitePoint newsletters. It let a person browse a site and see thier links visually. I believe it was a java applet.

If any one recalls it, please let me know.

    Best Regards,
    Sean

I think it's only in the Enterprise editions of Visio.

I'm not convinced that these return the kind of map that you would expect to see, but check them out:
    Spider Simulator
    Site Map Generator

I found both at Search Engine Secrets.
