    Hello,

    I'm no longer a PHP developer (I've moved on to Microsoft ASP.Net), but when I was I used good 'ole Microsoft Windows Notepad. Why? Simple, fast, easy, free.

    Well I use ConTEXT -> http://www.fixedsys.com/context

    It has the features I need (PHP and Python) with decent sytax highlighting and doesn't eat a bunch of RAM.

    You can also take a look at these threads and see what other people use:

    I noticed that a lot of folks like to use Notepad to code their PHP. And that's fine, if you like to use two sticks to start a fire. Personally, I like to use a flame thrower. I have a battery of PHP editors, but I use (of all things) Coffee Cup HTML editor, since I can add code snippets and functions with a single click. The more I use it, and the more snippets I gather, the more useful it becomes. Now, if they would add PHP support, so I can debug internally, I'd be in heaven!

    I use Homesite.
    For everything!

    Anyone using Notepad should seriously considering using it (If you happy paying for it).

    I'd be interested to know if someone can give me an HTML/PHP editor ala Homesite that works on Linux...

    I use Wynsyntax - www.wynsyntax.com. Nice and light editor, can be easily configured for highlighting of other syntax.
