    Question jsp costs $??

    does anybody know if using jsp to build a commercial website requires licensing fees? Thanks!

    It does not. Tomcat is available for free from the Apache website

    Also, if you need an application server in addition to a servlet container, you can use JBoss, which is free and open-source.

    JSP hosting is generally a little more expensive, though. It can be had for cheap - there was some company mentioned on the forums, but I don't rembember the name.

    It's generally more expensive than PHP hosting yes, but about the same as .NET or ColdFusion hosting, at least in my experience.

    I use http://www.actadivina.com/ as my web host for several clients, and their JSP support is both extensive, and cheap. You can have full service for less than $11.00 CDN per month. Compare it to $30 CDN per month at http://www.blacksun.ca/ and Acta Divina won out easily
