Moved this to a more appropriate forum.

http://www.bratta.com is one of the best but be careful it will crash Opera.

    Hi,

I think the people behind http://www.surfstation.lu/ , http://www.k10k.net and http://www.designiskinky.net are exceptional designers.

Ugh, you serious Fletch? I think http://www.surfstation.lu is absolutely terrible - it's too bright and horribly jumbled. Look at all the space wasted on weird looking pictures - the content is, what, 50 pixels in width? Sheesh.

I can understand a site who's purpose is not content, but it still goes overboard - and to make it worse, the graphics and colors are not that impressive, to make up for it, that is.

The other two are similar - the last is a bit better, but I'm sorry to say I don't consider any of them very well designed - obviously the creators are talented, but I don't like that particular style.

    Nothing personal!

    Hi,

Yeah I think this are talented Designers and Artists I think there problem is that they started off as artists and then moved onto web design. I personally like their style but it would not be suited to a content site. I think I like it because it is a nice break from me as I look at content designs all the time. I suppose it depeneds n the type of style you like.

The problem with content sites, non really stand out in my mind because they all follow the basic principle which is not followed by the sites that I mentioned above. Of cource this is only my personal opinion.

    No personal offence taken

I agree with Fletch. From a design perspective, all three sites stand at the top of the heap.

Well, that's obviously a matter opinion.

Sites with a lot of visuals have the potential to go overboard, and ones with few can go "overboard" as well - at the other end of things. SitePoint, for example, is somewhere near the middle. Those three sites are on the other end (maybe not the last one so much).

Honestly: what's the appeal in a giant frontpage that's all pink with a bunch of weird shapes and such? I thought it was almost totally agreed upon that such things were a bad idea. Even if you look at it only visually (not practically, IE: is it useful), I think it's far too bright.

And of course, it doesn't usually fit on an 800x600 resolution.

The rest of the site? Well, let's just say there's a good reason they have a regular column called "Seizure."
