    Header Woes

    Site in Question: http://www.dalius.net/test/

As you can see, I have an image (/test/img/stretch.jpg) which I have set as the background image. Unfortunatly, it is not doing what I want it to do (it seems computers don't like me often).

I'm trying to get the image to kind of seamlessly stretch throughout the top, and the white at the bottom to make the rest of the page white.

    Problems I'm having:
    • It's tiling like a background
    • The white isn't showing up as the rest of the page
    • There are breaks in the embossed line, showing that the picture is being repeated.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
    Thanks in Advanced!

You'll need to split it into 3 parts, the left end, the right end, and the middle, and using either tables or div tags, position the ends at either side of the screen, then set the middle as a background image and have it tile horizontally.

Depending on which method you want to use (tables or div's) I can give you more specific instructions.

    Thanks KelliShaver,

I'm really not sure what method I'd like to use, as I really don't know what the main benefits are between DIV tags and tables.

    Update: http://www.dalius.net/test/

I've fixed most of it, with help from a friend. I used CSS to make it stretch the right way, and edited the image so it doesn't have any stroke from Photoshop left over on the side.

Now, the question is, how does it look? I'm going to be adding a logo to the header, and content too.

PS: This is my first attempt and web design, so be gentle :P

    Heh, alright.

To anyone that cares: I've finished this copy of the splash page, www.dalius.net

Please tell me what you think could be done to make it look better in any way.

    It's looking good so far.
Seems like it will come together once you fill in more content.
