    So am I... it's nice

(Actually, I think it's faster since the college I go to was the 3rd (I think) one on the net and we're sitting on the backbone...)

3 seconds? Still more than mine... SitePoint's front page instantly loads on my computer. Only my processor and RAM have some difficulties following my cable connection (10mbs)...

And my connection is about 35$/month, 10 gig transfer and garantueed speed of 500 kbs (mostly at 700 kbs (that's kliobyte and not kilobit))

CJ, a T3 usually provides faster speeds than a cable line, unless the server is significantly closer to your area.

I timed SitePoint's main page, and it takes close to a minute to load for me. Darn 26.4 connection...

heh I knew you weren't paying for it.

T3's can cost tons of money to install and a few hundred a month to use.

Probably only corporation+schools or big institution could affort paying for T3, I believe it's much more than $1,000/mo. For T1, one grand could work!

Yeah, not when 2,000 computers are sharing it.

The school may have a T3 but the school is still on an Ethernet network. Most networks max out at 10 mbps because of printers and the lack of proper switches (hubs are cheaper). Therefore you won't get anything faster than the network allows.

Most likely 60 megabits per second. Bandwidth is measured in bits not bytes. Still fast but it correlates to a little less than 10 Megabytes per second really.

The proxy servers are on about 800 meters from where I live so I guess that should be an advantage (and the line only has to take one corner to get there, so it's really close)
