    photoshop & illustrator.

this may be a stupid question but is it a must to learn illustrator if you have photoshop? both seem to pretty much do the same thing, well, pretty much the same thing. anyways, sorry if this question is too noobish, i was just curious about it.

All depends on what you are producing. If you're just making web graphics...there isn't much use in illustrator.

I use illustrator for logo design, photoshop just doesn't have the same vector features.

What kind of work do you do in photoshop?

i mostly use it for graphics. i have also been using it to make logos and what not, so thats why i was asking. but if illustrator has features PS doesn't have then i think i may go ahead and learn my way around it.

just out of curiosity, what freatures does illustrator have the PS lacks?

Photoshop has a small set of vector tools. Illustrator is based on vector tools

I mostly use photoshop for photos. Ive only tried photoshops vectors tools a little bit, but they felt awkward after using illustrator for so long.

Here is an excellent article written by a member on these forums about vector and raster graphics:

    Take care,
