Arrow Link to other Websites :scary:

This is has been going on for several days and it is scaring me.

On certain times (never know), when I click on any link, it would take me to another website instead of the correct url.
And the thing is, it takes me to one of the websites that is on my "Favorites" link (random).

It just happened about a minute ago. When I tried to make a new thread, it took me to another website.

    What could be affecting this?
I do virus updates/checkup, spywares detection/removal, and windows update. I think I am getting paranoid. BTW, I did not check my e-mails so no new viruses.

I got a virus that took me to some mp3 site when I got a 404. Try searching the registry for something suspicious.

It's probably some spyware redirecting you. Run Spybot on your computer and see what turns up. It's probably a lot more than you think .

    Edit:

Moved to a more appropriate forum

I've had good luck with AdAware in the past.

Redirecting 404's is pretty tame compared to some of the other tricks scummy programs use... like the auto-dialer to a 1-900 number...

I been using Ad-Aware Personal, Spybot S&D, and Spysweeper on a regular basis with constant updates. And that still occurred.

I formatted my harddrive yesterday so no problem yet. Using W2K with Internet Explorer 6.0.

Be sure to get the service packs before you do anything serious on the Web, or better yet, burn all the service packs onto a CD. You can then install them all before you even get on the Web the next time you decide to format and reinstall. This way you won't get anything weird sent to you when trying to install security updates.

Spybot S&D seems to be nice, doesn't try to delete too many files required by windows

Just thought I'd try out Spybot. It pops up a VERY interesting message if you have Spyware Remover from BPS installed!!

Hmmm - may give them a go...

....spyware shall (I hope) be a thing of the past for me after tonight....I'm trying (once again) to get my home machine 100% linux....although I'm going RH rather than Debian as I had issues configuring my network card

Wooo! Red Hat present and correct. Sound not working ... And graphics at 800*600, but I'll persevere...
