I just want to ask about the capabilities of the internal DVD player. Would it be worth it to use the PS2 as my only DVD player or would it be better to buy one of each?
I just bought a stand-alone DVD player in the $200 range and am debating whether I should return and pay the extra $$$ to get the PS2.
I am totally drooling over SSX (the snow-boarding game)

I think George W. is having his transition team make preparations for installation of one at the Whitehouse.
Depending how things go, you might want to contact him at george@whitehouse.gov after January 20th.

not sure about normal dvds, but in the Anime circles reports from Anime studios say that DVD quaily on a PS2 is pretty poor - anyway at AUD$720 for the PS2 here, i think i'll wait until the price comes down

The DVD in the PS2 will never be as good as a middle of the road standalone DVD player (Pioneer are very good BTW), also nearly every standalone DVD player has region hacks and some sort of flash upgradeable rom in them to correct bugs.

They must be pretty good.
I'm using the everyone.net contest for a PS2 on my site StaindNet.com, and new email users jumped from 3 a day to 20 yesterday!
I use a popup..... but I think it must be a fairly good system

I got PS2 and am impressed. I did watch a DVD on it and it was fine. The only think that was remotely annoying what hte fact that it doesn't show the scene number like normal dvd players. However I'd say just go with the DVD as it does work fine.

People are actually buying PS2's? (well they must be if there sold out all over the world).
Well I've only heard bad news concerning the PS2. The price is ridiculous ($720AU though the PSX did retail at around $900 when it first came out) The grapics look ok but its nothing I havent seen before...
Oh well I suppose I'll wait till the price drops. Or I'll buy the Game Cube.russell.cz.cc - coming soon (I promise!)
