    New Site - Please Heeeeeeeelp

    Hi everyone,

    I'm New to this site and have noticed that there a quite a few different problems all relating back to resolution and screen size, but none that answer my question unless I am beeing totally thick.

    Anyway I have built a website before (or should I say input and arranged content) using templates from my host (see current) and have decided that I need to do something new.

    My issue is that the image I have for my homepage is aligned top left - how do I get this to centre in the browser? It is in a table so that is doesn't duplicate on different resolutions - how can i do this

    any help appreciated

    www.skilldevelopment.co.uk
    ps - It has recently been placed in the table - no changes uploaded

    Thx

    Jeez, I've seen this post so many times around the place. Post once.

    I've had a look and your code is far from neat, and is half-CSS, half-HTML so I'm guessing it came from a WYSIWYG editor? A simple solution is to put it all in a DIV with this CSS
    Code:
    .container {
        margin: 0 auto;
        text-align: center;
    }

    One thing that I do is to put the design in a nested table and set the first table to 100% for both width and length and algin=center. Hope that helps

    No need to exaggerate. It was only posted twice and I've now merged the two together.

    Niphico, if you're ever in doubt which forum is the best one to post your question, feel free to contact a member of staff and ask. That's better than duplicating your post in multiple forums.

    I suggest that you design your site at 750 pixels wide. It allows for the main internet audience of 800x600, and allows for 500 px wide content, with 2 x 125 px wide nav on either side of content, or one 250 nav-bar.

    But try to design it so that even people with smaller resolutions can view it without much scrolling ;D
