    weird background color-code

    the color in background is light,but you can see a small line across the width of site.look closely at it.

    I have overlaped some background colors maybe.
    I have played around with the commands but cant make it go away.

    also look at link bar at left,how do i get that to extend downward.I have played with those commands as well trying to get more length downward in link bar.

    Can anyone help me

    thank you very much

    umm. Ok, you have a few problems with the code you posted. multiple < head > and < html > < title > and document declarations.

    you have a little problem with your style sheet
    your body tag goes after the style sheet code. The nav cell calls for a class that doesn't exist and you have no external style sheet linked to this page.

    It should look like this:
    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Sample Layout Templete</title>
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    {
    margin:0px; /* creates 0 margin around the whole document*/
    padding:0px; /* creates 0 margin around the whole document for Opera */
    }
    -->
    </style>
    </head>

    <body bgcolor="#ffebcd">
    <table border="0" width="100%" height="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
    <tr>
    <!--nav bar top-->
    <!-- row 1, cell 1: logo -->
    <td colspan="2" height="15%">
    <center>Top bar is for your logo kevin stanfield, I am so depressed right now.</center>
    </td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <!-- row 2, cell 1: nav bar -->
    <td width="10%" height="85%">
    <p>Left side bar is for navagation links</P>
    <a href="nolink.htm">Family Album</a></td>
    <!-- row 2, cell 2: content cell -->
    <td bgcolor="#ffe4c4"width="85%" height="85%">
    <!--color works-->
    <center>Right Panel is for your content kevin</center>
    <IMG STYLE="position:absolute; top:100px; left:300px; width 500px; height:20px" src="webstuff/tslovlin.gif">
    <IMG STYLE="position:absolute; top:85px; left:109px; width:20px; height:20px" src="webstuff/heart.gif">
    <!--left heart-->
    <IMG STYLE="position:absolute; top:85px; left:983px; width:20px; height:20px" src="webstuff/heart.gif">
    <IMG HEIGHT="300" HSPACE=30 BORDER="4" WIDTH="400" SRC="webstuff/Tmp7.JPG" ALIGN=LEFT>
    <FONT COLOR="#800000">Hello we are Kevin and Linda.We Live in washington state.We got married in hot july month a long time ago.today we went to town and the beach yesterday</font>
    <IMG STYLE="position:absolute; top:600px; left:593px; width:450px; height:300px" src="webstuff/Tmp5.jpg" BORDER="4">
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    And just so you know, the font tag isn't a part of html 4.01 which is what you doc declaration says you are using. Your font can be declared in the style sheet. You can get some unexpected things when you leave out closing tags on tables too. Hope this helps, if it doesn't be sure to come back!

    well...it's deprecated, but still in the actual spec http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/present/g....html#h-15.2.2

    kstanf, do you have an online version of that page to look at, including all your graphics etc ?
