Display: block for my links, problem!

Just wondering why when I set the display to BLOCK for a:link, that is seems to affect only the first link in a table that is about 150 pixels wide, where you can mouseover anywhere in the cell and it gives the hover affect, but for items 2,3,4,5 in my menu (all going from top to bottom), I have to hover over the actual link to get the same hover effect.

    Like this

link1 (can hover anywhere within the 150 pixel wide cell)
link2 (only the link itself to get the hover effect)
    link3 ""
    link4 ""
    link5""

    Thanks
    Bryan

Could you post a link to a page exhibiting this behavior? Also, which browsers are doing this?

    Hi,

I don't why IE does it (because mozilla is ok) but you can fix it by adding width:100% to your a:link style.

It can also be fixed by adding position:relative; to your a:link style

    Another problem.

On www.btkdesigns.com/healthy/healthytips.htm The menu on the left is giving me problems. Everything about the css is basically the same except for a hover background color and thats it. For some reason, in IE, the border on the rightside of the hover doesn't show, Kinda weird. Any help?

    THanks
    Bryan

    Try using position:relative; instead of width:100%;

so, when I go into positioning ( I am using Dreamweaver mx), i notice that it still has my width as 100%. Do I erase that and just use positioning relative?

    Hi,

Yes delete the width:100% from all sidelink menu states and just add position relative to the sidemenu link style and it will cascade through the rest.

(The width:100% works in some situations but S7even,s position relative is a better idea here.)

Well, I kinda got goofy result doing that idea. Since I use Dreamweaver, it turned my links into Div's. ANyways, I got it to work by simply lowering it to 90%.
