    A field called DESC in mySQL bad idea?

    I've been developing an app that imports Miva tables into mySQL and the product description field in called DESC in MIVA. I know desc can be an action word in sql meaning descending. I've run some successful queries without error, but I'm afraid of bugs.

    Should I be worried?

    You have to put the column name in backticks or better yet use a differnt name.

    => `DESC`

    Just incase you were wondering, the backticks are above the TAB key, where the tilde key is; and under the ESC key. First time someone mentioned that key, I spent a minute or two trying to find it =P

    On a German keyboard the key below the the + is a single quote.
    The backticks are actually located above the + key a bit to the left. The key left of the Backspace
