    Please recommend new PHP books

    Hi,

I'm an intermediate PHP developer looking to learn some more about PHP so I'm on the prowl for some good books.

I want a book that uses real world code and problems - with detailed solutions.

    Things I'm interested in learning:
    - using object oriented PHP to create better applications
    - mysql, storing sessions in a database, uploading images and storing them in the DB.
    - A few shopping carts
    - Storing article hits and allowing users to comment on articles in a DB

I've read the reviews of PHP Developer's Cookbook (2nd Edition) - on Amazon and it seems decent, has anyone read this or can they comment on it?

    Feedback welcome!

    Thanks

I'm reading PHP and MySQL Web Development, by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson, and it covers a good majority of what you're looking for. It's ~850 pages with very well explained examples and codes. It covers building a shopping cart, a CMS, a forum, a mailing list, and much more.

I purchased it from Barnes and Noble, $34.99
