does anyone know what .cfm is

    Hello

I have this website I got from someone else. The files are not any of the standard extensions: html; shtml; php; cgi, etc.

    The file extensions are .cfm

Can anyone tell me what this is, please?
Also, what is the purpose of this extension?

    thank you

Thank you. I'll read up on the link you gave me.

Am I to assume then, that I need to install a script of some sort or at least set up a database?

I want to move the files to my own server account.

Cold Fusion template file (but looks like you already know that)
After the third time of reading the instructions,
it finally soaks in to my thick skull.

You'd need a server which has ColdFusion Server installed on it, which I believe is quite pricey, and then you'd need to leard ColdFusion, which is basically like special HTML markup, like <CFIF>, etc.

Yes, not many hosts support ColdFusion.

It's kind of a markup + programming language in one.
