    open link in new window - THEN remove toolbar and menus (like window.open)

    hi,

    i need to open a link in a new window using html only (target _blank) but would like to design the page that i open to look like a 'normal' javascript pop-up ie without toolbar and menu.

    i know that i can resize the window onload, so that's no problem, but i couldn't find a way to remove all the other typical browser window elements...

    you ask why? because I'm opening from a hotspot in a quicktime QTVR movie where I can only specify a link as in the contents of the href attribute, so I can't add any javascript, as it is sent to the browsers address link immediately).

    cheers for any hints!

    Have you tried <a href="javascript:window.open();"> -- I'd lay on money it'll work...

    Edit:

    Obviously, ignore the space in javascript -- I didn't put it there. vBulletin did!

    FWIW, javascript:// is a bit more proper that just javascript:

    actually, that doesn't work at all, browsers use javascript:, once it sees the //, everything afterwards becomes a comment.

    Sorry, I should clarify. That is the preferred syntax when using a null link.

    <a href="javascript://" onclick="somefunc()">link</a>

    Not for function execution from the href.
