Debug_Dynamic.htm

I first started trying to find a solution for this problem in 10/02. As yet I have not seen or found a solution. The DW forum at Macromedia is not coming up with a solution. I am in hopes that the Sitepoint people may know of a solution.

This is the problem: Using Dreamweaver MX and attempting to dynamically debug a page the following error comes up:

While executing ReceiveArguments in
Debug_Dynamic.htm the following JavaScript error(s) occurred: At line 91 of
file C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
MX\Configuration\Menus\MM\Debug_Dynamic.js: exception throw in native
function.

I can switch back to DW UltraDev and run the debug. But, MX chokes.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Does anyone have an idea what is up?

So what's a line 91? Does this produce the error in a browser and if so is it in the same place? I would be more inclined to debug using a browser and notepad in case it's DW thowing a wobbly. Hope this helps.

In this case line 91 is part of the DW scripting. It is using their code and a load of variables. I would need a debugger to find out what is wrong with their code... catch 22.

The simple debugging one can do with a browser and notepad do not come close to what I am looking for. When I am asked to take over a site designed by another because of problems, the client usually does not want to discard all the previous work. While that is sometimes what has to happen I can usally save a lot of the work once I understand it. A good dynamic debugger with break points and variable tracking is needed for the detective work, which DW4/UD did pretty well. MX's debugger however is a failure.

nickc has a good idea - testing outside of MX. Try Mozilla, it has a good debugger: Venkman
