    Top & Bottom Navigation Controls

Should a webpage have Navigation both at the top and bottom of a page?

I have a page which lists summaries of news articles, and want to keep things as clean as possible.

While slightly more accessible, I am wondering if having a navigation control at the top of the page is really necessary?

Here is a mockup of what I mean...

    My thinking is this...

A user is more likely to need to navigate to the next page *after* he/she has scrolled down to the end of the page.

I guess it is a matter of perspective...

    What do you think?

    Sincerely,

    Debbie

It's also a matter of personal preference I guess. I myself prefer having it at the top as well. I hate having to scroll to the bottom of the page if I already know I want/need to browse 2 pages back or forth.

Where I am ultimately going with my OP is this...

If I also add in Filtering and Sorting, then is it too much to have all three at the top of the page?

    Here is a sample...

(BTW, I would *not* put Filtering and Sorting at the page bottom.)

    Sincerely,

    Nor me.

(I think I'd be taken aback to find Filtering and Sorting at the top but not a page navigation option alongside them.)
Don't serve your porridge and then go out for a walk.

So do I understand you - and Guido - in that have Filtering, Sorting and Navigation at the Page Top and then just Navigation at the Page Bottom would be an acceptable combination?

    Sincerely,

    Debbie
