    Flash Detection

    I have a HTML page ith the following on it:

    Code:
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
     codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
     WIDTH="510" HEIGHT="380" id="category" ALIGN="center">
     <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="beach/beach.swf"> <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high> <PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#FFFFFF> <EMBED src="beach/beach.swf" quality=high bgcolor=#FFFFFF  WIDTH="510" HEIGHT="380" NAME="category" ALIGN="center"
     TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></EMBED>
    </OBJECT>
    it is the output from the publish command in flash mx.

    when flash isn't installed on the machine viewing the page - i want it to display a message or something - at the moment it sits there like a broken image link - or can I have it display a picture instead of the flash movie.

    In the publish settings, select the HTML tab, and select one of the templates from the dropdown list, I assume you want the one that checks for Flash 6 player. Also make sure to check the gif for formats of output. So it will create a gif file for you as well.
    Please don't PM me with questions.
    Use the forums, that is what they are here for.
