i want to put a sound loop on a website im doing for a fairly well know band, i have the cd but dont have any software to convert it to mp3, can anybody suggest any shareware software i can get my mits on?

I use software called `Audio Catalyst` with the frauhofer codec. For shareware, visit http://software.mp3.com/software/fea...ndows/rippers/

Search CD copy on download.com or tucows. Very cool program that can go cd to wav, cd to mp3, wav to mp3, mp3 to wav...

I use EAC with the LAME codec. Seems to work quite well.
You can also try CDEX, a free, Open Source ripper that's rather good.
This is what I use. You get some very high-quality variable bitrate MP3s from this one
If you open an audiocd in Konqueror you can drag and drop the tracks as mp3 or ogg-vorbis. Who said Linux was not user friendly?

Its not always about helping someone out there-and-then, but it does help when someone is searching and finds a post that just happens to be old (throw in some up-to-date information).
