Your huge number of page views are likely due to search engines spidering your site. You have to offer potential members a reason to return be it games, updated content, or a discussion forum. You should read some of the tutorials on SitePoint concerning community building. I'm sure you'll find them useful. Good luck.

Ironically, you need to have lots of discussion to get members to join. Get some friends to start posting, and even get fake account and have discussions with "yourself".

I've always looked down on the talking to yourself thing. What you can do is get some friends, as was said above... and just try to start a couple of topics a day at least. Valid topics that people will want to sign up and reply to.

No matter what, you will always have a larger visitor count than signup. It's not unusual at one of the small communities I help out at for us to have 5 members and 40 guests cruising the boards at a time.

Thanks for the helpo guys! Maybe with our new design, and new article/review system, we have been planning ways to lure the user to interact with them. Hopefully that will catch all these lurkers.

I use vBulletin and called a friend to get him to reply to a post. Politics, ah politics.

The friend sent me an eMail that he could not post. I had turned down the post capability a few days earlier when a porn spam was running. (Correcting the problem, I loaded ver 3.0) but forgot to turn the board back on.

Might want someone to check it. If you need, eMail and I will check the post for you.

    peace
