See the top left corner of that layout? How would I go about getting that blue "wavish" effect? I've also seen that type of effect on pixelbrick's site.
Thanks in advance.![]()

I'm not sure but you can just airbrush that with a few layers and varying opacities.

I was trying that... but with the airbrush I just wasn't able to get something that looked half like that.
I have an idea but I am not a guru so I can't just tell you...I need to go home and try it out and figure out exactly what to tell you. But in the back of my head, I know how to do this...

=)
Good stuff! I look forward to it Sketch.

Are we talking about the wave in the adobe photoshop homepage screenshot?

No, we're talking about the wave in the link I provided... upper left hand corner.

get a "pool filter" or airbrush the general shapes, then get to work on bluring it(radial blur probably).
They may have used a 3D render though![]()

I've gotten something pretty similar to that with a few simple plugins first choose the colors, difference clouds, the liquify effect. Liquify it till it looks nice n wavey (or you might be able to simply make straight liquify's then apply the wave effect) then airbrush it. Step 2, Send me $50 bi-weekly

Uh ok... thanks for that korruptking.
THanks platinum.![]()
yeah, I yield to the grand pubas....
I'm going to give it a try as well, mydster. I have a couple of actions that would probably produce the same effect. If I'm successful, I'll post the actions for you.

Felt like messing with it![]()

=)
Awesome guys.
Platinum... that is really good. Any chance you can post a PSD for one so I can take it apart? Or even instructions on what you did?

Basically - fill a layer with colour, hit up the 'old pool filter get a nice looking random spread of colour... then go filters > liqify and use a "bloody big brush"to trace some nice lines over the canvas.
The psd wouldn't tell you much I don't think...![]()

hehe this is actually pretty fun![]()
Mine isn't as elaborate as Platinum's but it was simple to do.
I worked with two layers, background and the wave layer. Using two different brushes, I added several lines of color (three shades of blue). Then I took the smudge tool and smeared the lines to create the wave. I then used the wave filter under the filter - distort menu for the finishing touch and added a drop shadow to the wave layer. I tried the liquify plugin and achieved a similar effect, but my personal preference was this.

Take a look here: http://www.voidix.com/wavy.html
It's a tutorial with the effect you want...

Nice... looking at voidix.com's other tuts.
URAlly and platinum, thanks for the help too.
I love this place.![]()

I can't find the pool filter. >_< I'm an idiot... it must be right in my face.Originally Posted by platinum
also you can use an effect like bevel using some abstract settings,
`·.¸¸.·´´¯`··._.·FLAMING`·.¸¸.·´´¯`··._.·

the pool filter doesnt come with photoshop but contains in the Toadies plugin pack. you can download it here: http://photoshop.msk.ru/Originally Posted by mydster
