exporting mysql data to use with other programs

I have a site that uses php/mysql and it is not feasable to change to something like asp/msaccess. Is there a way i can extract mysql data to be used and analysed with other programs such as spreadsheets and mail merge documents. It would have to be a straight forward process (ie click a button) as the person that will be responcible for exporting and importing the data has limited knowledge.

Hope someone can help out and thanks in advance.

What you'd want to do is create a PHP function to extract the data and export it to a text file. Because you'd be using a form l(displaying a button) it would be submitting to itself and rrefreshing the page. When you submit, you call the function which packages the data up in a text file (CSV, XML, etc) and when the page loads you could create a link to grab the file. That would be possible...
