I have a reasonably high traffic site with 5,000 page views per day. I believe most of those may come from a forum.

If I accept banners on my site,

    1. What CPM could I expect to get?

    2. Would the banners be ok on a forum or are they frowned upon.

    3. What could I reasonably expect to get per month in revenue?

    Welcome, Jon.

It's very difficult to answer your question because there are a lot of variables. The CPM you will get depends on your advertisers and who you use to sell your advertising. (I recommend BurstMedia.com). It will be extremely difficult to get into a CPM-based legitamit ad network if you only submit a forum site - I personally know people in these forums who had their forum sites rejected.

And how much you make per month also depends on your CPM rates.

If you are lucky and get into some good networks, I think a reasonable goal to acchieve is $1CPM net on all ads(summary on paid and unpaid). You would then make $150 a month.

It sounds like **** I know, however that's the sign of today - the truth is you will need hard work and luck to get $1CPM on banner revenue alone...

If so you are a lucky man. But I doubt they offer $3CPM on ALL inventory( that is no defaults )?

What I am talking about is $1 on all ads including defaults ( anything else is useless to count, doesn't matter if you sell 1000 impressions at $20, if you have 500 000 defaults ).

I've had numerous ad companies come to me and I usually don't trust those companies who do. They must be desperate if they are e-mailing site owners to sign-up with their service.

I would focus on some lead based income. Its much more profitable. Banners dont really do much but I suspect you could do at least what has been presented here. Random text links maybe? That many page views you could do a focalex pop up(cookied and totally accepted)

You could play around with placement and find something to your liking...Pop ups are annoying but w/focalex you can pop only once per visitor until cookies are cleaned out.

    Just my two cents

Well, I am signed up with Burst! Media, although I didn't like it as much as getting my own advertisers and my income wasn't as high. So I can make a much more better profit from my advertisers instead of Burst! Media..

    I also recommend http://www.cj.com

Most of the mainstream cpm sponsors are backing way off of their cpm rates. if you can net better than 1.00 cpm you would be doing well. Remember, I said *net*
companies offering 3.00cpm or better but who don't sell all of your inventory aren't really paying 3.00cpm are they?
