    Anyone know where I can get a program to uncompress .tar files?

    I think WinZip 8 can open these...not positive though.
    Unfortunately I don't have a .tar file around to test but the help file suggests that they do.

    You're right James, Winzip 8.0 does. If you have UNIX, you probably already have a program to do it.
