Couldn't resist being the first to post here.
I think a fabulous tool for any developer is TextPad - http://www.textpad.com. It is highly customizable, uses color coding (that the phrase for it?), allows you to set line breaks, and many other things. It has more features than I'll probably ever get around to using...
Editpad is also good.
My heart remains with TextPad! =)

Notetab looks pretty cool prequel - thanks for the link.
I have plugged them like ten times whenever a notepad discussion comes up. And no one ever notices. But as soon as prequel does, someone notives.
Anyways, I love notetab its great!

Came close to buying NotePad awhile back, but I already had CuteHTML which was included when I bought CuteFTP and I use that in conjuction with Dreamweaver.
But what I really like is Evrsoft Instant Download of 1st Page 2000 - it's FREE, very easy to learn and is very flexible...

BTW, theres no need to buy the full version of notetab. the light version works perfect as a html editor, and it free!

I have Dreamweaver 3, Cute HTML and Notetap. They are all great.
1. Dreamweaver is great for the design stages
2. CuteHTML great for plain HTML editing
3. Notetab is great for checking for HTML errors and converting all you .html files to XHTML

You just don't get the point, Zulu. You should always find the hardest possible way to do things -- anything; not just coding. For instance, using a key to unlock the front door of your home is sheer wimpery... when an ax or a battering ram is so much messier and more difficult.

But reducing the stress with enhanced text editors when coding is still good thing

I guess you are a programmer, then you should always code in binary (or byte codes in java) from your deduction.
isn't assembly lower than binary?
Binaries are the 1's and 0's on which computational machines operate on. Where as assembly is a low level language used to assemble/compile the machine codes.Originally posted by jumpthru

That's interesting! Knowing that each byte is made of 8 bit (0's or 1's), how long would it take to code with 000101001
