    I have an interesting problem...

I purchased the Tecmar DittoMax Tape Drive (external, 10 GIG) a while back. Unfortunately, on one of my trips I somehow lost the AC Adapter for the drive. After contacting Tecmar I learned that they no longer make accessories for the product. A trip to Radio Shack and several other electronics stores in search of a 12 volt, 1.8AMP AC Adapter proved absolutely fruitless.

So now I'm stuck with a drive worth several hundred bucks, as well as a ton of media for the drive ($50 a tape) that I can't use. Any ideas for a work-around to my problem? My best idea so far has been to try to purchase a used Ditto drive with the AC Adapter at eBay...

That sounds like the best idea to me. What a predicament!

Yup, that'd be the one... thank you so much. I've already contacted the company to find out how to order one.

I had no idea. Sorry I will keep looking. I really had no idea. I guess you could not talk them into just one?

Don't worry about it. It's not your fault... there's nothing on their site that said anything about a 3000 minimum.

No I couldn't talk them into sending me one, they told me they dont even ship out sample AC Adapters.

That is truly one of the funniest things I have ever read. I just laughed and laughed.

Now Matt, you know what happened to the last one. Maybe having 2,999 spares around wouldn't be such a bad idea?

[edit] I have a thing from radio shack with a switch to pick from 1.5 v all the way to 12 . It then has 5 prongs on the end for most common types of adapters. (It looks like a torture device) It's somewhat old , but should work if the power input on the drive is a standard one. Oh. and it had a +-->- --->+ switch. Quite useful, really.

[edit] never mind. it's only 300mA output. It's IMA AC Adaptor Model No. M-100 0688
