    Hosting issue IP getting blocked

    Hi All,

I'm having issues with a website that my father and I own. It appears that every IP address is getting blocked that a certain laptop touches. I've tried different IP addreses on different computers/phones and have been able to access the website. Once this specific laptop accesses the website nothing on any network will connect to it anymore. I've had my hosting service white list the ip's but I end up having to redo the white list after the specific laptop access the website.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this on this laptop? Thank you for your suggestions.

I suspect that the laptop may be sending spam out in the background.

Run a full scan with malwarebytes: https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/

You will likely need to run it more than once to get everything.

Also follow up by running adwcleaner: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

And also with Junkware Removal Tool (JRT): http://thisisudax.org/?p=1

If you do not have antivirus software, you need it. Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast, or AVG are free options. Run a full scan with one of these as well.

Thanks for the tips so far. The laptop has been running avg for a couple years but I know its not invincible. I'll try these tips when I get a chance. Xmas parties are taking the priorities for now.

Are you running the 2014 version of AVG? It gets updated every year.

Antivirus software does not protect against malware. You need anti-malware software (like malwarebytes) to get rid of it.

    NB,

I recently updated FF and TB and found that it was unable to access websites. The problem was in the Norton 360 firewall - I needed to delete and then re-add them to get them to the whitelist for their updates to work. As that's probably the simplest solution, give it a try first before rebuilding your system.
