I logged into my Web Trends Live account today. I use the free version and was going to set up a new counter. A Popup window asked me to take a survey. So I clicked Yes, and it took me to the survey. The last question in it was something like "WebTrendsLive is consider charging a $49.95 yearly fee for our personal version, which was previously introduced as free".

Any WebTrendsLive users here? I don't know about you, but this is bad news for me. If they go through with it... I'll have to change my counter service on my entire network.

Yeah, I got hit with the same survey. Have to switch to another service soon, I guess.

Funny, the last question was "Do you think $49.95 per year is fair?". Well, it's probably a fair price, but a better question would have been "If it cost $49.95, will you continue to use the service?"

Hehe, Chicken. I use WebTrends has a backup tracker, and if it leaves, I can still rely on my web logs and SiteMeter.

They look alright, I couldn't seem to find the button you have to put on your site... is there one?

You can only get at the buttons when you sign up unfortunately.

There pretty reasonable and you can put them at the bottom of your pages out of the way.

We use WebTrendslive on our own sites and on some clients site as they provide tonnes of reports and referrer information for free. Ideal if you're on a budget!

Hope they don't introduce the subscription fee!
Have a look at the button we use at http://www.haighdesign.co.uk

I was talking about what an addfreestats.com button looks like, not a Web Trends Live button. I use them on all my sites, so I know what they look like. But, thanks, its the thought that counts.

Oh well. I used to use them, but stopped because our new site design is not supposed to have ANY graphics (except for logo) on it and the button slowed our load time by almost an entire second. Too bad though... They were pretty accurate. I have been trying Sitemeter one on of our newer sites, but they are down from time to time.

Nothing good lasts forever. Most internet companies seem to offer something free, wait with incredible patience as their "subscriber" numbers go up, then hit you with the bill. At that point, they are so big they could care less if you dropped their program. I wouldn't be surprised if Humanclick's interesting service started having a monthly fee ;(
