I build gateway pages and post them on free servers with URL's such as:
    http://www.geocities.com/retinitispigmentosa or htpp://www.digitvillage.com/retinitis

Some pages i build and post with URL's such as:
    htpp://www.retinitis.freeserver.com

Which of these URL's do the search engines and human edited directories like better? Which URL will rank higher?

p.s. Hotbot just dropped me out of their index. I was ranked #4 in the morning (and had been for the last 2 months)in the afternoon i was gone!

Well first off, don't submit gateway pages to a human editor directory cause it wonlt get listed or rarely will slip through... Pls it might hinder the chances of the official sites placing in that directory..

Yes I get better results with domains.com .... rather than sub urls.....

for gateway pages I either :

but a new domain if I am really serious and use that..

    OR

just make the gatway pages on the back of the url i.e dmoain.com/gateway.html and let the spideres spider the whole site..

Gateway pages and human editor directories are a NO NO..

thanks for the reply. By the way my gateway page http://www.geocities.com/retinitispigmentosa was accepted into a major category of DMOZ (eye disorders). I have just submitted to yahoo!Canada and am hoping i'll get in.
