    css override

    1st I am new to CSS so please bear with me.

    I am creating a Wordpress site with a Rockettheme template using Gantry.
    http://trashyladycollections.com
    Not a porn site btw.
    I have created a custom.css file that is to override the master css file with my edits.
    What I am trying to do is simply make a white background for the background, header and menu. No there are no option in the template management to do this.
    in the custom.css file I added this code but it only made the main body background white not the header area or menu background.
    This is the incorrect code I have entered, only the main background is white what do I have wrong?

    Thanks Susan

    Code:
    .rt-showcase-bg {
        background: none #fff rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);
    }

    .box3 {
        background: url("../images/main/showcase-bg.png") repeat scroll 50% 0 rgba(176, 231, 247, 0.6);
        border: 1px solid #CCCCCC;
        border-radius: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
        box-shadow: 0 0 8px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 0 0 1px rgba(225, 225, 225, 0.1) inset;
        color: #3C3D3F;
    }

    #rt-header {
        background-color: #fff;
        border-bottom: 1px solid #C7C7C7;
        box-shadow: 0 0 6px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3), 0 6px 0 #D44E4D inset, 0 7px 0 #FFFFFF inset;
    }

    Hi, Welcome to Sitepoint

    The header is a linear gradient so set 'background' and not background colour and the gradient will be reset.

    e.g.

    Code:
    #rt-header{
    background:#fff;/* shorthand resets all non specified values to default */
    box-shadow:none;
    border:none;
    }

    Add the shadow and border back in if you wanted them.
