as you may have guessed i'm new to the PHP/MySQL stuff.. I really couldn't afford to buy the book online (build your own database driven website using php and mysql, by kevin yank) so I'll ask for help here.
I am building a website where i'll have news, and with that news i want my visitors to be able to login and comment on the news artical. like on this site www.lineagecompendium.com.
This is called a Content Management System (CMS), or more specifically to the link you posted, a portal system. http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Script...ems/index.html
will provide you with links to a variety of pre-made portal systems, which can be a great way to learn php as well, as you can go through their code and see how everything is done.
