Hi. I'm involved with a sports site. Lets say I wanted to sell 5000 page views. TARGETED advertising (the companies buying the ad space were in sports or related to the sports world). Should I be asking $15 CPM? $20? Or more like $10 or even less?

I know non-targeted ads are only around $1-$4 CPM so what about TARGETED CPM? (Specifically for sports sites)

    thanks for any help

Well sitepoint is a big site, what about for smaller sites? My site is of very high quality - some writing is contributed by fans but we edit everything until it's as good as your average sports article. What should I be asking for in my ratecard?

You might want to try to obtain pricing information at your competitor's sites, ESPN.com, Sportsline.com etc. If their rates aren't public, call them up and say you're interested in purchasing advertising to find out their rates.

Marc, just curious, how many daily visitors does sports-central.org get? Or page views/day or month?

Hi... I'd rather keep that confidential... but I'd be glad to discuss things with you over e-mail.

Marc, I like your site, but it seems to be very much US oriented. Does this mean you aim your markteting at the US only?

Yes, we don't cover Euro sports or Aussie, etc. We simply aren't big enough and would rather improve upon on our U.S. coverage than expand too quickly to other types of sports in other countries.
