    Okay,

I have a client that wants three spinning gears done in Flash. That is not a problem, but they all need to be different sizes. You say not a problem correct?

Well they need to all have the same size 'spokes' or whatever they are called.... any suggestions on how to take a gear and add or remove any of the spokes, while at the same time keeping round and proportional ?? This has me a little stumped I must admit and the users here are here to help, right ? ANY suggestions would be great !

Here is the gear, I do have it in vector format in Flash.

    Hi

It's quite a simple image. If you have the vector based illustration then you can just mess around with it in Illustrator. Without a vector based image things become much harder. I would suggest creating one if you haven't got it. All you need to do is place your image in Illustrator and trace over it.

    hmmmm,

I do have it in vector format so that is not a problem. But do you have any suggestions on how to edit it in Illustrator ? What tool to use ?

Is there a way to increase/decrease the center, while keeping the rest of it uniform ?

    Thanks !

Shawn...has your client given you a specific number of "teeth" that the gear has to have? If not, then your best bet would to re-create the gear with the correct number of teeth. Then you can make all the different sizes with the proper proportions.

For a tutorial on how to creat a gear in a vector program. check these pages out:
