Sitepoint Virus !

Either someone has hacked the email list here, runs an email-grabbing spider or the server has been corrupted. Or someone used my mailing account to send a virus to sitepoint which was promptly sent back with a failure notice.

Why you ask?

It looks to me like your own Outlook is responsible....

The author of the worm has used this functionality to steal confidential system information and to set up spam relay servers on infected computers.

maybe not H I also got a similar virus like that overnight too bug bear.b@mm and the only emails I had in my inbox were from SP - and the computer was fine yesterday

so it had to come from somewhere?

Hmmmm - I got nada?

I suppose it's possible that the mail company(is it sparklist?) is distributing a virus - would be devasting if it is though

well I was using FTP all yesterday and when I got in this morning it wouldn't work - ran my virus checker and that virus had infected

acrobat reader
outlook express
real player
windows media
ftp

.exe's

Lunckily I cleaned them and all is ok BUT my machine wasn't on between yesterday and today and I didn't got to any sites as I was using the ftp client as the last thing.. so it does seem to suggest something came through my emails over night..

Tribune and email notifcations and one inter office email was all I had (inter office all clean!)

If your work computer is on a network, it could have come from there as well. I have probably gotten a couple thousand emails sent to me with viruses and have never been infected just by receiving the virus itself.

My virus prog (symantec systemworks pro) checks my email as they come in and so far has caught every email virus so far. I get several every week that come in as attachments, but good 'ole Dr. Norton just deletes them before they get to my inbox

LOL. Norton has been catching that one for the past couple weeks. getting an average of 3-5 sent a week. Funny how nobody can crack down on the people who do this stuff. Technology does't let us track these people.... lol... that's pretty funny.
