Small Local Law Firm Specialising in Property Conveyancing - Please Review

My wife runs her own small legal practice and I have built the website for the business.

    www.mothersinlaw.com.au

I have done quite a lot of reading about webdesign, but I have no formal qualifications so would appreciate any feedback.

The target audience is predominately female age 25+, but not at the exclusion of males.

I would especially appreciate any guidance of feedback re SEO. keywords that I am targeting are "Conveyancing Solicitor Dee Why and Northern Beaches".

The other thought I have is should I put a slider on the homepage. I did have one, but then thought, is it just annoying people and taking away my main message?

    Thanks

    Aaron

    Aaron,

First thing I would do is find some 25 year old women to take a quick look at the site. In a few minutes, they can help you identify the biggest things to do.

    Some things to think about

    1. Clear CTA in the View Our Prices button, which is good. But a few things:
    - Is that the right way to phrase it? If the customer is most interested in pricing, maybe it works. Else, something in the area of "get started" or "learn more" or "get a quote"
    - Would consider shifting up the picture that's to the right of the button. Basically, it's crowding the button. If you move the picture up, you can give the button the full horizontal space and center it on the page, which should help with focus

    2. I like that it uses sharp colors like the purple. One risk of using it in the big box is that it dominates the call to action. I would consider a softer, more neutral tone for the background, so that you can use the stronger color for the call to action button

    3. Would consider putting additional space between the purple box and the Conveyancing section below. It's a little too crowded

    4. In the Conveyancing section, it's not clear to me that you need to a text title. You might be able to delete that. However, if you keep it, the title should be above the items to its right (i.e., fixed fee, free consultation, right on contract). Once you move or delete the title, make the three items each take 33% of the screen.

4a. In the About Us and Memberships sections, make the same changes in the title placement and use 33% for the subsections.

    5. I would make it clear that the testimonial in the second purple box is, in fact, a testimonial. As above, you might consider having a more neutral color as the background with dark text. That would make it easier to read. The script font adds a personal touch, but it's a little harder to read.

    6. In the top navigation bar, do you need the numbers above the words? It's not clear to me what the numbers add.

    I hope this is helpful!

Lots of work has apparently went into this. Nice. Great distribution of content and overall above average page layout choices. One suggestion. It's related not only to my personal preference but perhaps some inclination to achieve better "readability" on the site.
I feel you've overused the #920947 color. it's very nice for accenting throughout the site but I might consider not using it as much as in (background for content containers) maybe even remove it in the nav drop down background as well. Just my initial take on it. nice work though.

Thanks so much for the feedback, it is very much appreciated.

I have implemented some of your suggestions and agree that they have improved the visual appeal of the site.

I would like to see an explanation of what 'Mothers In Law' actually means. It just needs to be slightly more obvious for first time visitors. ie a tagline like 'Mothers, lawyers and conveyancing specialists' instead of just 'Lawyers'.

You have a 'Get a Free Quote' box on one page. Why not adapt this to all elements of the biz (have a dropdown for conveyancing, wills etc) and put it on the homepage? You'll get a lot more leads that way. Also simplify it so that people need to enter less info.
