Magento is one of the best E-commerce platforms. Here are it's main pros and cons:

    +It is an open source

    +Great administrative interface

+There are a lot of special useful extensions, modules, widgets, tools, analytics, support etc.

    - Price - it costs a lot

    - Speed unfortunately, it's quite slow

    - Developers it's hard to find really skillful Magento developers

Magento is more complex if you don't have much experience about development, Hence if you like to create store then you require to hire professional magento developers and it cost more.

Its true that Magenot is More complex the other E-Commerce platforms like Bigcommerce, OsCommerce, Wordpress and Joomla. But It has more flexibility then others. I can understand that Magento is difficult for new user. It is tough to understand from back end. If you attempt little effort then you can do it easily.

Magento has many features to offer for ecommerce development, it supports a big list of extensions for advanced features. And the negative side is that magento is very complex to work on.
