I don't have a tool. Just looking for one.
Anyone know of a free FTP program that has the chmod command? I've been using WS FTP LE for a long time, but it does not have this feature.

WS_FTP LE does have the chmod command function.
Select the file or folder you wish to chmod, right click and a menu will pop up. Chmod is on it somewhere.
If it isn't there, try updating the version of WS_FTP LE you have.

I use Cute FTP (www.cuteftp.com). It isn't free but there is a trial version available and I think they used to have a free version supported by advertisements. Not sure if they still do this.

try ftp explorer, http://www.ftpx.com - I find it's really good, the only thing I don't like is that you can't chmod multiple files - but still really easy to use
Yes it does. It is a great little programme too! But I am trying to think and for the life of me I cannot remember how to do it although I defintely remember using it to chmod. If anyone remembers please post!Originally posted by Saltire

I was correct Nicky, just right click on the file or folder, then look down the menu that pops up. It is down at the bottom of the third "horizontal bar" menu spacer.Originally posted by Nicky

Are you trying to figure out what boxes need to be checked to give say 755 and 777 the common permissions.Originally posted by Saltire

If so 777 is all boxes checked, while 755 is Owner all, group and other read and exe. 744 is owner all group and other just read.

I use CuteFTP and really like it! Chmoding is so simple
