Anyone who plans to join today's session may find it useful to read this.

We expect to offer a broad Overview and help clarify some of the confusion that surrounds Git and Source Control in general.
This subject is far too deep for detailed "how do I...?" discussions. But our goal is to introduce a valuable [free] tool to a broader audience of Web Professionals.

    Please join us!!

You have completely MISunderstood what Git is and how it is used.
Git is a Source Control Management system. It is useful to maintain control over your source files. You do not 'develop in' Git.
Collaboration among many developers - geographically dispersed - is one of the areas in which Git can shine.
Git is a software application. It is FREE and available for multiple platforms. You may create an account with a service like Github, BetterCodes or Bitbucket to host your Git repositories.

Be sure to READ THIS document. It will clarify all the things you want to know. It also contains references to download and install Git for the most common platforms.

Git is free software, so yes. If you mean GitHub, then you can have a free account, but only a public one, I believe. If you want a private area to share projects with colleagues, I think you have to pay for that.

Github is the most popular but there are many similar services that will host a Git repository for you.
And, as I mentioned before, you can even host your project in a Dropbox account!
