Thats worse than testing you site using 3.1
In all seriousness, in looking at my logs for a variety of my sites I have never seen an impression from any IE earlier than 3.0, and recently earlier than 4.0

Yeah I agree aspen with what you say for the western world, however our site is going to third world countries that still use the older browser versions.

~Jason~ Here is a site that I found with versions of quite a few different types of browsers, some names I didn't even know of -- found IE2 though...

I don't think it's worth it just to make sure your site looks good for such a small percentage of your visitors. The lowest I would test in is IE 3.

If that's the case w.luke, are their browser emulators or something else out there, that can get around this problem?
Cheers,

What exactly is the problem?
Internet Explorer 4 is free. You can even create your own distribution CD if you would like. The software works on Windows 9X, Windows 3.1, Windows 2000/NT, Macintosh, Sun Solaris, and several other flavors of Unix.
To design a website for Internet Explorer 2.0 all you have to do is conform to HTML 2.0 standards. Any Validation utility worth your time can do this for you. The true key you should be looking for is designing Accessible sites. If you do that then it doesn't matter what browser their using and it will show up appropriately regardless.

While I think that designing for Accessibility should be your main goal and tracking down old browsers is the wrong track, here is the link to the only browser emulator that I know of:

Wayne beat me to it, I use and recommend Browserola, to save yourself some headaches and computer errors by installing older browsers!
You can also check your site's compatibility in older browsers through a service such as http://www.netmechanic.com. Altough it won't give you screenshots, it will let you know of the errors and inconsistencies that appear when your site is viewed using an older version.
Save yourself the frustration and only take 3+ version browsers into consideration! IE 2.0 is terribly defunct compared with today's standards. I think it will only cause you more headaches than happiness

Even though everyone should be upgrading to the newer browser versions, not everyone is ~ But I have to admit IE2 is really old. It is the webmaster's responsibility to design your website for 'Viewing with any browser' ~ Nicky's articles are a must. Investigating all that you can about current internet trends should be sufficient for you to gather all the knowledge so that you can design with your viewers in mind.
