    Hi,

Other than the page limitation differences, which one of the site search engines would you choose for a "budding" Webmaster with a new site and hopefully a site which will grow?

FreeFind (unlimited pages "free" with advertising - can remove advertising with pay service)

Atomz (up to 500 pages "free" with NO advertising - pay service after 500 pages)

    WP

Don't know about Freefind but I've had pretty good experiences with Atomz. I'll recommend Atomz.

But 500 searches limit on Atomz will soon make you paid. But their service's worth that!

We provide a site search engine to our clients so that they don't have to install one themselves. If you're technically inclined, this is one answer. Another is Atomz.com. Great product.

I guess I'm a little biast towards Atomz because I never used FreeFind, but Atomz has been absolutely flawless. The 500 page limitation will not stop me from effectively using it and I don't mind displaying their small logo on the search results page.

I like and use Atomz but it's good to hear about options if the site grows to more than 500 pages. The site I use Atomz on just might, and it's not designed to earn a dime, ever, so it would be nice to have a free solution.

I currently use Freefind and it is fine, but I am hoping to upgrade to my own PHP/mySQL based search.

    Hi All,

Thank you all for your responses.

Just wanted to ask a follow up question.

Many of you indicate you have experience with or use FreeFind and/or Atomz but you do not say why.

What is it about FreeFind and/or Atomz which would make you choose one or the other??

I think that when I discovered Freefind (about 2.5 years ago), it was the only one of its kind that I knew of so I just stuck to that one.

I've only used Atomz. It's very customizable, fast and it works well. I use it myself on my own site, because I have a lot of information that really belongs in a database but isn't in one, so sometimes that's the only way I can be sure of finding things quickly myself and it always gets me what I'm looking for.
