    Question Loading text into Movie Clips!

    I have been trying to load text from an external file into a movie clip inside my main project timeline. I've read a few tutorials covering importing text to Dynamic Text fields and I have done it a few times, but hhe problem is when I try and load the text to a movie inside my main movie. The tutorials don't cover that very well!

    my webpage is at and all the attached files are in
    (if you care)

    i'm using the following code in my first frame

    loadVariables("text.txt", "_root"); //for dynamic text not inside movies
    loadVariablesNum("text.txt", "softwaremov");
    loadVariablesNum("text.txt", "hardwaremov");
    loadVariablesNum("text.txt", ae180mov);
    loadVariablesNum("text.txt", projectsmov);

    Thanks for any help you can provide!

    I don't know if this is the problem or not.

    But when you use loadVariablesNum() you have to provide a level to which the variables have been loaded. Try using loadMovie() instead and see if it works.

    If that's not the problem, try absolute targeting.

    That way, no matter where you put the code, as long as you keep the object in the same level, it should work (use _level5.object.method(), or whatever level the object is on, if you're not targeting a root path)
