    Ipb 1.2

Anyone used it yet? It's been released I think within the last day, and that was a couple of days early anyway. It's still in its BETA stages but it looks great from what I've seen.

It's even got a quick reply feature, something that I can't live without on this forum! Although I haven't used the admin CP, I've heard that's great as well

Yes. The board is really nice. You should install and see. The Admin CP has been redone a bit to make it look even nicer.

I am going to install it on my home computer tonight. I probably won't install it on my production server until it is out of beta.

mydster, is the conversion from v1.1.2 to 1.2 easy??

    Hartmann... very!

There is an upload file you can read, but all you need to do is upload most of the directories and files except for sm_install.php and conf_global.php. Then run upgrade5.php and you are done.

Yup, upgrade was easy and there is also a new beta just been released with a few bug fixes and cosmetic alterations.

The new admin CP is a lot easier to play around with and has a lot of added functionality. Def worth the upgrade...

Oh, and the biggest advantage of all is the speed increase when serving the pages.

I'd say it's increased by at leat 50%, as mentioned by a few of my forums members.

    Regards

For those who are not too familiar with IPB but are a little bit curious, we have updated our little feature tour which should give you a rough overview of IPB.

I am not surprised. IPB 1.2 is a quality software, and much more stable than vB3. Agreed, vB3 has more features, etc. etc.; but IPB 1.2 is way ahead of vB2.x, which is a better option given Jelsoft's snail pace development and that there are still many bugs remaining to be sorted out on vB3.

That said, I would give vB3 the upperhand, when the final is reached. But who knows, there might be a newer version of IPB before that moment arrives.

I have now installed IPB 1.2 on my home computer and the upgrade was really easy. I like the new admin panel with the ability to moderate multiple forums at the same time, very nice

Yes, it has to have the best Admin CP in the business, although I have never seen vB3's.

The Multi-Moderation feature is revolutionary... Just awesome! It makes handling support issues so easy for us.

What I really like is the snazzy Quick Reply, which can be initiated on demand, or closed down to save space.

All it needs now is a WYSIWYG Editor for beginners

Heh, I'm sure I've got far more than all of that in my YaBB SE Supermod.

However, unless the actual YaBB SE developers develop a sudden interest in search engine indexing then I think it's time to move on very soon indeed.

Well I have started using it on my site (v1.2 RC1) and everything works great except for the going to new posts... It just jumps to the beginning of the thread instead of the newest post.

Hartmann, does that happen when you click the blue arrow to the latest post or when you are at the forum view?

    Both.

And I can't figure out how to reconfigure each poster's "postbit" with their avatar and its caption... Does that have to be done in the skin?

Woo! I suppose this means I'm going to have to find time to patch my (vaguely inactive) boards though :P

I've been using IPB for some time. I'm currently running 1.2 RC1 on my site. I have it pretty customised now. Its a good forum with lots of features.
