    Flash Browser Plug In

    Flash Browser Plug In

    Hi All

I have developed a site in Flash MX.

Lets assume that the client who wants to view
the site does not have Flash Browser
Plug In, installed on his machine.

For such scenarios we can provide a
link to Macromedia and visiting that link
would allow downloading the Flash Browser
    Plug In manually.

I was also thinking about another option
where before the site loads it would check
whether the client's PC has Flash Browser
Plug In and if it does not then it would automatically
download the Flash Browser Plug In on the
client's PC from my server or from Macromedia's
    server.

Is it possible to achieve this?

    Cheers

in the publish dialogue in flash there are many options, including checking for flash player...
I don't think trying to auto download it is a good idea... these days if someone doesn't have flash it is because they do not want it. A better solution is to have a page where you tell the user what they are missing... give them the option to download or thank them as you push them through the outdoor

Normally one solution is to make good use of the <object> element and mime type, plus providing fallback methods, perhaps with alternative textual content.

I choose deliberately not to install Flash on some of my browsers' configurations even though I am connected to T-1 so speed is not the issue...
