Is PHP The Best Out There?

Do you consider PHP to be the best internet programming language, or is there something else out there that's better?

Different folks different strokes. Personally I have dabbled in quite afew languages and when it comes to web stuff, PHP does 101 percent of all I need to do.

I don't think you are likly to get an unbiased opinion posting to a PHP forum. That being said, I developed extensivly in ASP for many years, and I am much happier working on PHP projects.

I only got into programming (internet) last year and started with ASP, but have now made the change over to PHP which I am finding soooo much easier to understand.

looks at swing, looks at round about, looks at swing, looks at round about, looks at swing, looks at round about, looks at swing, looks at round about.

Realises the Swing is free (open-source!) forgets about the roundabout and runs toward the swing. (knowing my luck, there'd be someone else on the swing and I'd run towards it and they'd kick me in the face :::grrrr::: )
Laws are like sausages. You have much more respect for them if you haven't actually seen how they're made.

Ummm.... unbiased ? Damn right about that Though I would suggest PHP, your other alternative would be Java; forget about using .NET until you've gained experience with Java at least or C.

This depends on many things. What do you think makes programming language good?
Is it because it is easy to learn,
is it because it has great support,
is it because it is advanced and can do a lot,
is it because you have a lot of control over what you are doing...

Propably all of this and more, if you think the first two points make programming languages good then PHP is defenetly your choice, if you choose the last two points I would head over the the Java Servlet/JSP forum, but that is most certainly not easy to learn (or even make Tomcat work).

Development happens fast because of the huge open source community. This pretty much guarantees that it will be around and evolving for the better for a long time to come.
