I'm running Windows and I'm not sure which is a better choice - Omni or Apache. I'm not setting up a server but I just want to view my PHP pages offline.
Thanks

Definitely Omni. It's more geared towards running on Windows, and thus performs better than Apache on this platform. Also, its administration interface is much easier to use.
The same can be said of Sambar Server, which I use.

Sambar server is most definately recommended by me. Kevin, can you help me with a sambar question.
I have a friend who is trying to set up PHP and mySQL with sambar on their local PC. By going to their I.P address I can view his files etc. When i try to go into the admin panel, however, I get a error talking about "you have no permission". this is not a password error, as I'm using the admin user/pass, same as he is. Is there something he has to enable to let remote users get into admin ?
Thanks
James

Is Omni server free like Apache, if so where can I get it, I have been using apache and have no complaints on win98 but I am always willing to try new stuff, just to learn a little more. What is the benefit of Omni?
Please don't PM me with questions.

Freddy, URL is
http://www.omnicron.ab.ca
It is free, except versions expire in specific dates. ALl you need to do is go to the site and download the latest update.
I personallly use it, and find it great. Comes with an easy to use GUI to set everything up.

James,
One of the Server Configuration settings in Sambar restricts the IP addresses from which you can log into the administration interface. By default, you can only log in from 127.0.0.1 (localhost). To enable admininstration from remote servers, you'll need to change this setting.
