Hi Sheyie, welcome to the forums.

I think the best advice I can give someone new to blogging such as yourself is to:
    Get familliar with the Codex
Get familliar with your blog's Admin "backend"

OK, I know the Codex is massive and takes some getting used to, but with luck and perseverance you can usually find what you're looking for. eg. the answer to your question
    Introduction to Blogging

IMHO the answer you want depends on "Want an interactive website?" i.e. if you don't have, or don't want to spend, the time needed to approve or reject comments and reply to them, you can simply turn off comments. (here's where getting to know the Admin backend will help).

I'm guessing by your use of "too much of them" you allow comments but your time is the factor.
If so, do you want to provide your visitors the option of following links to related blog posts?
If not, you can turn off trackbacks/pingbacks.
