Yeah the title problem is a problem with vBulletin 3 beta.

Its been reported to vBulletin and should be fixed in a subsequent update.

This is a known error. We are currently using a board that is based on an early beta of vbulletin 3. The error has since been corrected at vbulletin, but we have yet to upgrade.

well, sitepoint should update, but more importantly, I think it is stupid and neglegent to release a beta, with such obvious errors. Whats the point? are they to lazy to find obvious problems themeselves? its like when apple released beta of safari, it had NO java support, so you couldnt login anywhere etc., its just stupid. Correct me if im wrong

Well its not a public beta test - the beta code was only given to a few carefully selected forums so it could be fully tested. And also - thats what a beta is for, so that issues that developers who have been working on the project for months may have missed can be ironed out before a public release.

As is the case with any software - you shouldn't use the beta if you arn't prepared for the problems that come with it. If a beta test isn't for sorting out problems before the final release what is it for?

Also: I have never logged into a site that required me to have java to log in. Forms are a standard HTML element and, in general, log in stuff is handled on the server side. So not quite sure what you mean.

However, apple may have had their reasons, for example perhaps they wanted to sort out any major glitches before they began to build Java / Javascript etc support into the software?

However seen as I don't work for either Jelsoft for apple its pointless speculating over their reasons.

    Cheers

Our previous forum leader, Wayne Luke, was generous enough to provide us with an early beta of vbulletin 3 to coincide with the recent SitePoint upgade in March. Because it was an early beta, there were a number of more obvious bugs that were not yet corrected, and which have since been corrected by vbulletin.

Upgrading is a huge task due to the extra features of this vbulletin.

I hope to upgrade to a more recent beta within the coming weeks.
