    JS Formatting, complex I think

    OK,

Not all of you will be able to see this, but if you go into your profile, select options and then turn on the advanced WYSIWYG toolbar, then select to add a topic or reply. You will see a toolbar that looks like word processors.

Anyway, the buttons format the text in the text box below them. For writing your messages.

I know its simple to create these things and format the text. However, vbulletin is actually formatting the text within the textarea.

just type some text, click bold and it not only adds the code tags to your message but bolds with within the textarea.

    How is this done?

I really want to add this to my own websites content management system.

A good example of what I am asking how to do is this: http://www.webedpro.com/demo/webedit...eName=123.html

I really want to know how this is done. Someone must know, surely.

There are several ways - java applets, DHTML. The most common use Micrsoft's DEC and Mozilla's Midas.

thanks, they are all editors for download. I would really like to make my own.

I prefer to code things up for myself than use 3rd party. Its more fun that way
