    Question "_JavaScript" vs "javascript"

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I can't find anything anywhere to explain this. I've noticed that in SitePoint articles lately they've been using "_JavaScript" (with initial underscore) instead of "JavaScript". What is the difference?

Also, will code using "_JavaScript" not work on some browsers? I ask because I tried to run a sample of code on the site that used _JavaScript in IE 6 and Mozilla 1.4b, but it wouldn't work until I replaced all references to _JavaScript with plain old JavaScript.

I wouldn't think that using either name to reference Javascript would make a difference...I'd find it hard to believe that JS would be so picky...

That underscore is there so that vB doesn't mangle/filter the JavaScript when posting!! Simply remove the underscore when you use the code.

Instead of having vB replace Java(nospace)Script with Java(space)Script, why not Java<i></i>Script?
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
